Good value, value experiences

This is a great safari for those that want to experience the Makgadikgadi (Boteti), Okavango Delta, Chobe River and Victoria Falls on a limited budget, without any sacrifice of quality wildlife experiences – perhaps your once in a lifetime safari? On this itinerary we have combined 3 value lodges in Botswana, all located well enough to see the wildlife in each respective locality. There are no frills and high luxury – just plain good value!

The idea of this bespoke itinerary is to spend quality time in Botswana’s best wildlife areas. You get to see herds drinking at the Boteti River in the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park while staying at Boteti River Camp. You can be assured of quality wildlife sightings at your next stop, Sango Safari Camp in Khwai – this would be your “Okavango” experience, and the lodge is located in a concession right next to the entrance gate of Moremi Game Reserve. Next, you fly onto Chobe Elephant Camp on the Chobe river. This value property allows access to the game drive and boat cruise routes on the famous Chobe River.

To complete the tour, you transfer across the border into Zimbabwe to stay at Pioneers’ Camp, where you can visit the falls or enjoy a range of activities based around Victoria Falls town……don’t worry, all complicated transfers will be well taken care of by Khaki and Dust Safaris.

Best Value Tour - Lodge Pack

INCLUDES: 2 nights accommodation in an en-suite chalet, 2x road transfers, full board meals, NO drinks, 2 activities per day

After landing in Maun you will be met by a driver and driven to Boteti River Camp (BRC). It takes roughly 3 hours on a good tar road and you should be in camp before the end of the day, maybe with time for a quick game drive in the park? The activities on offer here are based around game drives in the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park(MPNP), more specifically, along the Boteti River, which can attract thousands of thirsty animals. In particular, you might want to be here during the “Migration” season when the zebra and wildebeest herds will be in abundance, being that the Boteti is their dry season range (April/May – November).

BRC is a budget-style camp, with no frills but brimming with good value. It is located in a small village (Khumaga) immediately at the entrance gate of the MPNP, with a short ferry crossing IF the Boteti River is flowing. It is also well placed for cultural experiences, being located in the heart of a traditional Botswana village

INCLUDES: 2 nights accommodation in an en-suite tent, light aircraft transfers, all meals, local brand drinks, activities on offer.

After a morning activity at BRC you will be driven back to Maun airport from where you will fly by light aircraft to Sango Safari Camp (SSC) in Khwai. It is a 35 minute flight to get to the Khwai airstrip and you will be met by your guide and driven to the camp.

SSC is located on the outskirts of Khwai village, on the Khwai River, overlooking the Moremi Game Reserve. This is a small and well run tented “bush camp” that allows for amazing high quality game viewing without blowing your life savings! There is access to game drive routes in the park and also the highly productive Khwai Community Concession – you will be in a prime wildlife area with guaranteed sightings of big game and predators! While at SSC you can choose the following activities: game drives (both day and night), mokoro, walking and cultural experiences in the local village.

The Khwai area is particularly good for leopard and wild dog sightings and has a well used and reliable hyena den.

INCLUDES: 2 nights accommodation in an en-suite chalet, light aircraft transfers, road transfers, all meals, local brand drinks, activities on offer.

After a morning activity at SSC you will be taken back to the airstrip for another light aircraft transfer flight to Kasane airport. Your guide from Chobe Elephant Camp (CEC) will be there to meet you and transfer you the 50km (on a good tar road) to CEC. You will pass right through the Chobe National Park on this transfer and will already start seeing game!

CEC offers a no-frills Chobe experience on the quieter western side of the Chobe River front (there are fewer lodges here compared to the area closer to Kasane town!) You get good value at this lodge with air-conditioned chalets, great views over the Chobe River floodplains and close enough to the park gate for great vehicle safaris along the Chobe River. There is also a boat station nearby to take to the water on a Chobe river boat cruise.

You get morning and afternoon activities while staying here.

INCLUDES: 2 nights accommodation in an en-suite chalet, road transfers, breakfast (pay other meals and drinks direct). Activities not included – book and pay direct.

On your last day at CEC you will be driven to the Zimbabwe border in the morning, which is a 70km transfer on a good tar road. At the border you complete immigration and customs formalities before being handed over to a driver and vehicle on the Zimbabwe side of the border. You are then driven a further 80 km to Victoria Falls Town and Pioneers.

Pioneers is a new lodge in the suburbs of Vic Falls Town, central enough to access the vast array of activities on offer including the obvious visit to the Victoria Falls themselves! You can organise all your activities and tours easily from reception at Pioneers.

On your departure day you will be transferred by road to the Victoria Falls Airport for your connecting flight home
