How to Get There
Victoria Falls is a destination for either the beginning or the end of you Botswana safari, and transfers between the two countries are easily arranged. The VF International airport is a 30 minute road transfer from The Elephant Camp. We arrange road transfers to The Elephant Camp from Botswana (Kasane) and from Livingstone in Zambia. All roads for these transfers are tarred and in good condition. The VF airport has daily connections to Johannesburg.
Game Viewing and Activities
Although there are some game viewing options to be had in Victoria Falls, you should rather leave this activity for your time spent in Botswana. Rather spend your time taking advantage of the unique activities on offer in Victoria Falls. Download an activity list here.
The Elephant Camp management can arrange and book all of your activities.
Because of the relatively remote location of this lodge, there are a variety of other activities available on the property. You can meet the Wild Horizons elephants and interact with them. These elephants are ridden by other paying guests, but we feel that the interaction experience is a better way to spend time with the elephants. They also offer fantastic sunset excursions to the lip of the Batoka gorge, with the rushing Zambezi below and bush walks in the wilderness surrounding the lodge.
Lodge Environment
This lodge option for Victoria Falls would suit people that definitely don’t want to stay in a big hotel, and would prefer to be in an environment free from the noises of traffic and helicopters circling the falls all day. The views from this lodge are pretty exceptional as you can see the spray from the falls during high flood waters. The nearby Zambezi gorge is also very impressive. Because of its small size and location, The Elephant Camp is in the upper pricing bracket as an option for accommodation here.
The “suites,” which are tented, are very impressive. Each is spacious, with big windows to take in the amazing views of the surrounding bush. Large private decks are equipped with a private plunge pool and ample relaxing seating. You certainly will feel pampered here as the lodge is small and extremely well managed.
